From Necessity to Acessory

Pop culture, to me, means something that you will see anywhere. Not a common item, but a fairly popular one. But when choosing something that represents pop culture- and something tha had form- that was truly difficult. In today's society, pop culture is mostly electronics- iPods, iPads, iTouch- and most have a basic square shape. I chose large glasses because glasses in general have become fairly popular. Glasses are even advertised in commercials with a specific style. I put the tape sculpture on a mannequin head to show how stylish glasses have become. Glasses have become more than a necessity to the average nerd- its become an accessory. So when it comes to 2011 pop culture, glasses are there.
