My sculpture represents black unity and love. The bright colors of the sculpture represent the bright future. The black represents the dark past of the African American race. The shape is supposed to resemble the fist, the symbol of black pride. The words and phrases around it saying “Show love”, “Give Love” and “Embrace Love” shows what our community needs to do to come together as one unstoppable force, an inspirational movement that can influence the world. I feel like the world needs these suggestions to make things better.
When making my sculpture I made decisions on color. I chose brown for the hand to show the African-American race. My favorite part was plastering my own hand for the sculpture. It made me feel more attached to my work than I already am. My favorite part of my hand is the heart on the fist that says love. It’s my favorite part because it was spontaneous. I got the idea in the spur of the moment. It wasn’t in my plan but I thought it brought my sculpture together nicely. My sculpture is sort of how I imagined it but the heart makes it different. My favorite color is blue because it’s a peaceful and mellow color but it’s strong as well. I thought those attributes fit my sculpture nicely so I found away to incorporate blue in my sculpture.
All in all my artwork took a lot of effort so I'm proud of it and the work I put into it. No matter what the grade is the sculpture is an example of my best
Ms Williams, your write up about your sculpture is even better than the sculpture itself. It is extremely well written and full of profound undertsandings.

BTW, I love blue, too!
